Today, we created a super sparkly slime perfect for Valentine's Day. Read on for the easy craft tutorial.
This melting heart slime makes a great valentine for kids to give out at school, and the parents in your kid's class will thank you for not giving yet another piece of candy! Are you ready to make slime valentines?
Melting Heart Slime Recipe
- 2 Cups of red glitter glue
- 1-2 cups of liquid starch
Optional additions:
- Heart confetti
- Glitter
- Rose essential oil
Method
- Begin by pouring 2 cups of red glitter glue into a large mixing bowl.
- Mix in any optional additions at this time.
- Then, slowly begin to add liquid starch and mix, slowly adding more starch and mixing until the desired consistency is reached.
- The amount of starch needed will vary slightly with each batch of slime. The key is to add the starch slowly. If you are having trouble see our tips below.
- Once the slime is formed remove it from the bowl and knead it with clean, dry hands. After a bit of kneading you will have ultra stretchy, sparkly heart slime!
Give kids heart-shaped cookie cutters, and they will have a blast making slime hearts that melt in their hands!
Heart Slime Party Favors
Materials
- Heart shaped containers
- Slime, as prepared above
Method
- Prepare the slime as instructed above, and then place it into heart shaped containers like these.
Kids will be delighted to receive a heart full of slime for Valentine's Day, and it's better than giving "even more candy"!
Troubleshooting:
- Is your slime too sticky? Add a little more starch and knead.
- Is your slime too rubbery? OOPS! You added too much starch. No biggie. Just add a little glue to your slime and knead it in!
Tips & Storage:
- One batch of slime will fill roughly 25 heart containers if you use ones similar in size to the ones we used.
- Liquid starch can be hard to find in stores. We buy ours in bulk online here.
- Store your slime in an airtight container between play times, and it can be used again & again!
