This is one of our favorite homemade paint recipes, and that is in large part due to how easy it is to make. I can whip these paints up so fast that my kids call them, "quick paints". These are a favorite with the kids as well, because the paints dry glossy and shimmery. Are you ready for the recipe?
Gel Paint Recipe (aka "QUICK PAINT")
Materials
- Clear hair gel
- Food coloring
- Jars/bowls
- Glitter (optional)
NOTE: They sell clear hair gel at most dollar stores- score!
Method
Gel paint is great to use with brushes or as a finger paint. The colors are vibrant, and the paint itself has a really neat texture that feels fun between tiny fingertips!
- Begin by pouring the desired amount of hair gel into a jar or bowl, using one jar for each color of paint that you wish to make. We used empty baby food jars, and these worked great!
- Add several drops of food coloring to each jar, and then stir until combined.
- That's it! Sprinkle in glitter if desired, and the fun & creating can begin!
