Rosie and Jewel love cloud dough. It is crumbly yet mold-able, and so much fun! Today, we tried combining a few ingredients to see if we could make cloud dough that would glow-in-the-dark! The results were "out-of-this-world"! Read on for the full tutorial.
Glowing Cloud Dough Recipe for Kids
Materials- Baking soda
- Water
- Glow in the dark or fluorescent paint
Method
- Begin by adding the desired amount of baking soda to a mixing bowl or container, using one container for each color of glow dough that you wish to make.
- Add a squirt of glowing paint to each container.
- Then, slowly begin to add water and mix, slowly adding more water and mixing until the desired consistency is reached and the ingredients are combined.
- You want the dough to be slightly damp and mold-able but not too wet.
- Once combined, pour the glowing cloud dough varieties into a large bin or play container, and the fun can begin!
Glowing Cloud Dough Play
Cloud dough is so much more than a typical play dough. It looks like sand but acts like dough. It actually acts as both! How cool is that?
Cloud dough also feels like fluffy clouds in kids hands!
Squeeze, squish it, and mold it. Any way they play kids are sure to have a blast!

Tips/Resources:
- For this activity I recommend using a black-light, as it will make the cloud dough glow much more vibrantly.
- Kids can use a black-light fixture or these super cool uv-flashlights!

- Store glowing cloud dough in an air-tight container between play-times, and it can be used again & again!
