How to Make Christmas Sensory Rice
Materials
- Rice
- Red & green food coloring
- Water
- Zip-seal bags
Optional Additions
- Holiday extract
- Glitter
- Christmas figurines
Method
- Begin by adding the desired amount of rice to a zip-seal bag. We used two bags so that we could make red and green rice. We used 2 cups of rice for each color we were making.
- Add several drops of food coloring to each bag.
- Add 3-5 drops of extract to the bags if desired, using one of your favorite holiday scents.
- Then, add a small amount of water. The water just helps to saturate the rice in the food coloring. You only need 1-2 tablespoons.
- Seal the bags tightly, and then hand them to the little ones to mix up.
- Once the rice is fully saturated in color open the bags and leave the rice to dry right inside of the bag. Just be sure to leave the bags open.
- After a few hours your rice will be dry and ready for play! Pour the rice into a play bin or container, and the fun can begin!
