We have made slime from just about everything over the years. Today, we are going to make it out of soap!
Too cool, right?
My kids thought so. Read on for the easy recipe!
Soap Slime Recipe
Materials- 1 cup of corn starch
- Dish soap
- Optional: food coloring
Method
- Begin by pouring the desired amount of corn starch into a large bowl or container. We used one cup of corn starch, and that gave us a decent amount of slime ,but you can use more or less to yield different amounts of slime.
- Slowly begin squirting dish soap into the bowl of corn starch and mixing, slowly adding more soap and mixing until the desired consistency is reached.
- It takes a bit of elbow grease, and the process is a bit messy- rest assured! Just keep mixing.
- Once the slime begins to form remove it from the bowl and continue to knead it with clean, dry hands.
- If the slime is too sticky add a bit of corn starch and mix it in. If you are having trouble see our troubleshooting tips below.
- After a bit of mixing & kneading you will be left with insanely fun DISH SOAP SLIME!
How cool is that?
Kids will have a blast stretching & pulling their slime, and they can even make it bubble!
A Few Tips:
Kids will have a blast stretching & pulling their slime, and they can even make it bubble!
A Few Tips:
- Use different colors of dish soap to make different colors of slime!
- You can also make a single batch of slime and then split it into bowls and color it using food coloring.
My girls played & played with their slime, making several batches in a rainbow of colors. They had so much fun & can't wait to turn soap into slime again!
Troubleshooting:
- Is your slime too sticky? That's ok! Just add a little corn starch & knead it in with clean, dry hands.
- Is your slime crumbling apart? Oops! That means you need more dish soap.
- Add a bit more & knead.
- We used roughly 2 parts corn starch & one part dish soap. Exact measurements aren't necessary; just be sure to add the soap slowly & mix well before adding more.
Storage:
- Unfortunately, this slime doesn't store too well. I do not recommend keeping this longer than a day or two.
