If you have little girls at home they will especially love this craft. We had so much fun with this activity that we now have lip shades in every color, and all the gals in our house love wearing them! Read on to see how you can make lip balm with just two ingredients!
If you have old, broken crayons at home you can use those for this activity. If not, you can start with a fresh pack of crayons.
Make Lip Gloss From Crayons
Materials- Crayons
- Coconut oil
- Cosmetic containers
- Microwave-safe bowl
Optional additions:
- Begin by selecting the crayon colors that you wish to use.
- You only need one crayon for each color of lip gloss that you wish to make, but you can use more or less to create varying shades.
- Peel the wrappers from the crayons.
- Now, set them to the side.
- Place 1 tablespoon of coconut oil into a microwave-safe bowl.
- Heat on high for 15-20 seconds.
- Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave.
- Now, take a crayon, break it into pieces, place it into the bowl, and stir.
- The smaller the crayon pieces the faster they will melt.
- Stir the ingredients, melting as much of the crayon as possible.
- Then, return the bowl to the microwave and heat for 10 seconds.
- Carefully remove the bowl and stir.
- Repeat this process until all of the crayon pieces are melted into the coconut oil.
- Then, carefully pour the contents of the bowl into a cosmetic container like this one.
- Repeat the above steps for each color of crayon lip gloss that you wish to make.
- Place your glosses into the freezer, and in 5 minutes they will be set & ready to use!
My kids absolutely love this stuff!
The colors are fun, and the crayons give the lip balm a genuinely gloss-like texture.
