How to Make Ghost Rice for Kids
Materials- White rice
- Zip-seal bags
- Neon paint
- Water
- A freezer
- A sensory bin or container
- A blacklight
Method
- Begin by having kids add the desired amount of rice to a zip-seal bag. We used roughly 4 cups of uncooked, white rice.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of neon blue paint.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of water.
- Secure the bag tightly.
- Then, hand it off to the kids for them to mix and shake.
- Continue to mix the ingredients inside of the bag until all of the rice grains are fully saturated in color.
- Then, open the bag and leave the rice to dry for 4-6 hours.
- The rice may clump together a bit upon drying. That's ok! Simply seal the bag and break the rice grains up with their hands.
- Then, place the ghostly bag rice into the freezer to make it COLD!
Playing with Glowing Ghost Rice
- Once the rice is icy-cold pour it into a large bin or container.
Use this icy-cold rice for writing practice.
- Simply pour the rice into a shallow bin.
- Then, have kids practice tracing letters and words in the rice.
Any way that they play kids are sure to love the icy-cold feel of the chilling, ghostly rice.
